Your children have completed a unit on animal adaptations. They learned about different adaptations that animals need to survive in the environment that they live in. The following assignment was given to them as a final project.
The local zoo has an opening for one more very unique animal. However, the space they have provided has already been constructed with a ready-made environment. Given the environment provided, create a unique animal that would survive. you need to give a visual representation of your animal and a written description of why its adaptations would help it to thrive in this environment. Choose on of the following environments:
Environment #1 - This environment is very dry. It does not rain very much and therefore has very little plant life (vegetation). The only vegetation that can seem to grow here is cacti or yucca plants. The land is mostly filled with sand, and it is very flat.
Environment #2 - This environment is very cold. The temperature is below freezing for most of the year, and there is a lot of permanent ice covering the ground. There are no plants growing and the un-frozen water is near freezing.
Environment #3 - This environment is a water environment. It is made up of salt water and there are many different plants that grow from the ground. The temperaturechanges depending on the temperature of the air outside. In winter, the water can become very cold, in the summer, the water can become warmer.
The following is a video of your child's projects. Due to the fact that this is online, no children are identified by name, but I'm sure you'll be able to recognize the voice :) ENJOY!!
